Creation Letter News: 2/16/09: The ‘Summer of Creation’ Campaign Gets Under Way!
Creation Sunday 2009 Review
This February 15, 2009, a total of 6 churches in two states registered their intent to celebrate a Creation Sunday instead of the pro-evolution Clergy Letter Project’s proposed Evolution Sunday.
In the 2 short months we’ve been operational, we’ve had over 1600 hits and 45 signatures to the Creation Letter, including 8 Clergy signatures. We even picked up a few Sponsors along the way and Answers In Genesis generously linked to our site for ideas for celebrating a Creation Sunday on their ‘200 Lost Years’ page.
It’s a start. We’re not backing down. ;]
You see, the pro-evolution Clergy Letter Project currently has a list of nearly 12,000 ministers who affirm that evolution is true and that the Genesis record is a teaching myth like Aesop’s Fables. Since 2006, they have successfully promoted the celebration of an Evolution Sunday in churches throughout the world. This year over 1,000 congreations across the USA and around the globe participated. The Clergy Letter Project is often cast in the faces of Creationists to insinuate that we are merely a fringe element of Christianity, because there has not yet been an answer to their challenge. Our silence is used as an admission of our alleged irrelevance.
It is disgusting that this modern-day Goliath gets to mock the people of God, flaunting the compromise of some of our ministers as if it represented the majority opinion, with no answer in kind.
What’s In Store
We believe that God has ordained the Creation Letter Project to answer this giant’s mockery. We intend to press on.
We’re already preparing for next year’s Creation Sunday drive. And we’re launching our Summer of Creation initiative to blunt the impact of the opposition’s so-called Year of Darwin. Furthermore, we’re still looking for Christians, particularly ministers, who will stand by their convictions and will unashamedly make a stand for Biblical Creation and Catastrophism by signing the Creation Letter.
